Choosing to pursue a health profession is a big undertaking, and we know that many students feel more comfortable when they have someone guiding them on this path. Although students want assistance, we understand that quality prehealth advising isn’t always easily accessible. Thus, Prehealth Advising Unlimited was founded to bridge the gap. We are full-service advisors who have extensive knowledge and expertise in the area of prehealth advising. We are ready to help you understand the requirements of your health profession, to make recommendations for building your prehealth portfolio, and to support you through the application process. We are looking to be your teammate on this journey - you direct, we help refine. Simply high-quality advising that provides you with the tools to articulate yourself well in the application process.
Who We Are
Meet
Sherise Hicks!
Sherise, the founder of Prehealth Advising Unlimited, has dedicated herself to working with students just like yourself - hopeful future health professionals - with their start-to-finish preparation. A mental health counselor by training, after graduating from Loyola College in Maryland with a BA in Psychology and then earning an MA in Child Development (with an emphasis in adolescent development) from Tufts University, Sherise worked at Boston Children’s Hospital before returning home to Long Island to work in various hospitals and clinical settings serving adults with a dual diagnosis (MICA: Mental Illness, Chemical Addiction).
After 7 years of being in the clinical space, Sherise transitioned to serving emerging adults in a different way: as an academic advisor. Based on her counseling experience, right from the start Sherise served as a prehealth advisor. Beginning her advising career at public universities in Georgia and Florida, Sherise eventually returned home to take on the dual role of Director of the postbaccalaureate Prehealth Studies Program and Assistant Director of Preprofessional Advising at New York University. After several years at NYU, Sherise went “across the bridge” to accept the role of Assistant Director of Prehealth Advising at Princeton University.
